SAMANTHA LLOYD is a soon-to-be graduate of the Bachelor of Communication (Media) degree at RMIT University, in Melbourne.

 

As an aspiring filmmaker and cinematographer, she has worked on a number of short films and productions in recent years that have allowed her to develop her love for visual aesthetics and styles. Samantha is currently pursuing a career in the media industry, in both fiction and documentary filmmaking, and is willing to take on a range of roles in order to develop her skills and learn from industry professionals.

 

She began to realise her passion in secondary school through pursuits in media studies and film making / photography and is happy whenever she has a camera at her disposal. While she has been passionate about narrative fiction film for a long time, Samantha has recently discovered her fascination with documentary through her studies.

 

While keen to be in a cinematographer role, Samantha is enthusiastic about all stages and areas of media production, ranging from director to editor. She enjoys both the creative freedom of her own pursuits as well as collaborative environment that media productions create, happy to develop her own vision or to help realise another’s.

 

In her future projects, Samantha wishes to further develop her understanding of the documentary genre. Exploring both universal themes and ideas in creative ways, as well her own more personal stories, she wishes to expand her film practice while experimenting with documentary as a film form. She also intends to work on a number of media productions with varying styles and genres so she may expand and refine her own style.
